Brazilian Air Force

The Brazilian Air Force (Portuguese: Força Aérea Brasileira, FAB) is the air branch of the Brazilian Armed Forces and one of the three national uniformed services. The FAB was formed when the Army and Navy air branch were merged into a single military force initially called "National Air Forces". Both air branches transferred their equipment, installations and personnel to the new force.

According to the Flight International (Flightglobal.com) and the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the Brazilian Air Force has an active strength of 70,710 military personnel and operates around 660 manned aircraft.

Famous quotes containing the words brazilian, air and/or force:

If I were a Brazilian without land or money or the means to feed my children, I would be burning the rain forest too.
Sting [Gordon Matthew Sumner] (b. 1951)

Only if loves fire with the breath
Of life be kindled, I doubt,
With our last air ‘twill be breath’d out,
And quenched with the cold of death.
    Edward Herbert (1583–1648)

It is necessary to turn political crisis into armed crisis by performing violent actions that will force those in power to transform the military situation into a political situation. That will alienate the masses, who, from then on, will revolt against the army and the police and blame them for this state of things.
    Carlos Marighella (d. 1969)
