Braunau Am Inn

Braunau am Inn (English: Braunau on the Inn) is a town in the Innviertel region of Upper Austria a state of north-western Austria. It lies about 90 km west of the state capital of Linz, on the border with the German state of Bavaria. The population of Braunau am Inn in was 16,372 in 2001. A port of entry, it is connected by bridges over the River Inn with its Bavarian counterpart, Simbach am Inn. The town gave its name to its district.

German dictator Adolf Hitler was born in the town in 1889. The house where he was born has a memorial outside it, dedicated to the victims of his regime.
