Famous quotes containing the words notable, people, bounds and/or green:

    a notable prince that was called King John;
And he ruled England with main and with might,
For he did great wrong, and maintained little right.
—Unknown. King John and the Abbot of Canterbury (l. 2–4)

Politicians—power itself—are abject because they merely embody the profound contempt people have for their own lives.... One should be grateful to the politicians for accepting the abjectness of power, and ridding others of its burden. This inevitably kills them but they get their revenge by passing onto others the corpse of power.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)

What comes over a man, is it soul or mind
That to no limits and bounds he can stay confined?
You would say his ambition was to extend the reach
Clear to the Arctic of every living kind.
Why is his nature forever so hard to teach
That though there is no fixed line between wrong and right,
There are roughly zones whose laws must be obeyed?
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

And a man of tan engages
For the springtime of her pride,
Eats the green by easy stages,
    Nibbles at the root beneath
    With intimidating teeth.
    Gwendolyn Brooks (b. 1917)
