Bothnia Line - Purpose

Purpose

A railway line along the coast of Northern Sweden has been required for some time, with a lack of capacity on the existing main line (further inland) because of lower speed limits, curves, and gradients. The Bothnia line will also improve public mobility in the area, reducing the travel time between Umeå and Örnsköldsvik to 40–50 minutes via high-speed train. It will also be served by commuter trains, at a proposed frequency of at least six trains in each direction.

Famous quotes containing the word purpose:

Man, her last work, who seemed so fair,
Such splendid purpose in his eyes,
Who rolled the psalm to wintry skies,
Who built him fanes of fruitless prayer,

Who trusted God was love indeed
    And love Creation’s final law—
Though Nature, red in tooth and claw
With ravine, shrieked against his creed—
    Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892)

The strongest wind cannot stagger a Spirit; it is a Spirit’s breath. A just man’s purpose cannot be split on any Grampus or material rock, but itself will split rocks till it succeeds.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Satire exists for the purpose of killing the social being [for the sake of] the true individual, the real human being.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)
