Boston Cannons

The Boston Cannons are a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) professional men's field lacrosse team based in Boston, Massachusetts. They have played in the MLL since the 2001 season and won the MLL Championship in 2011. From 2006 to 2008, they were in the Eastern Conference. From the league's inception in 2001 through 2005, they were in the American Division. With the MLL contraction for the 2009 season from 10 to 6 teams (due to the state of the U.S. economy), there is currently only one division/conference. The MLL announced expansion plans in 2011 and will field eight teams in 2012.

Famous quotes containing the words boston and/or cannons:

To get time for civic work, for exercise, for neighborhood projects, reading or meditation, or just plain time to themselves, mothers need to hold out against the fairly recent but surprisingly entrenched myth that “good mothers” are constantly with their children. They will have to speak out at last about the demoralizing effect of spending day after day with small children, no matter how much they love them.
—Wendy Coppedge Sanford. Ourselves and Our Children, by Boston Women’s Health Book Collective, introduction (1978)

Nothing could be so beautiful, so smart, so well drilled as the two armies. Trumpets, fifes, oboes, drums, cannons formed a harmony such as was never heard in hell.... Candide, trembling like a philosopher, hid himself as best he could during this heroic butchery.
    Voltaire [François Marie Arouet] (1694–1778)
