The Boilermaker Road Race is a USATF-certified 15-kilometer (9.3 mi) race in Utica, New York, United States. The race attracts elite runners from all over the world as well as runners from across the country.
The Boilermaker is organized by a staff of race directors, in conjunction with the National Distance Running Hall of Fame and has been run every year since 1978. For 2012, the race was capped at 14,000 entrants, which was met on March 21, nearly four months before the day of the race.
The race is sponsored, in part, by the Matt Brewing Company of Utica, NY. Appropriately, runners are given commemorative pint glasses in lieu of a runner's shirt as part of registration. The race is televised by WKTV, the local NBC affiliate in Utica.

Famous quotes containing the words road and/or race:
“How can I go on, I cannot. Oh just let me flop down flat on the road like a big fat jelly out of bowl and never move again!”
—Samuel Beckett (19061989)
“There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight.”
—C.S. (Clive Staples)
