Boehringer Ingelheim - Drug Manufacturing Plant Closing

Drug Manufacturing Plant Closing

In 2011, Ben Venue in Bedford, Ohio, a division of the German drug maker Boehringer Ingelheim, voluntarily halted its drug manufacturing. In the U.S. Food and Drug Administration inspectors' report, the plant had rusty tools, mold, and a barrel of 'unknown liquid'. The barrel of 'unknown liquid' was later found to be urine. The company has invested USD $300 million to upgrade the drug manufacturing plant and limited production resumed in October 2012.
