Bodhisattva Vows

Bodhisattva Vows

A Boddhisattva vow is the vow of a Bodhisattva or an aspirant to culminate certain virtues, the perfection of which is called Pāramitā.

A Bodhisattva is one who, motivated by great compassion, has a spontaneous wish to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings, and who becomes dedicated to their ultimate welfare. This compassionate intention is called bodhicitta.

A true military officer is in one particular like a true monk. Not with more self-abnegation will the latter keep his vows of monastic obedience than the former his vows of allegiance to martial duty.
