Bob Clarke Trophy

The Bob Clarke Trophy is awarded annually to the top scorer in the Western Hockey League.

It is named after National Hockey League Hall of Famer Bobby Clarke who was one of the WHL's early stars. Clarke won the league scoring title both years he played in the league.

When first introduced in 1966, it was named the "Brownridge" trophy after Bob Brownridge, who played in the WCHL with the Calgary Stampeders from 1945 to 1949. In 1987 the WHL (formerly WCHL) renamed its scoring-leader trophy the "Bob Clarke Trophy."

Famous quotes containing the words bob and/or clarke:

It was because of me. Rumors reached Inman that I had made a deal with Bob Dole whereby Dole would fill a paper sack full of doggie poo, set it on fire, put it on Inman’s porch, ring the doorbell, and then we would hide in the bushes and giggle when Inman came to stamp out the fire. I am not proud of this. But this is what we do in journalism.
Roger Simon, U.S. syndicated columnist. Quoted in Newsweek, p. 15 (January 31, 1990)

He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
    —Clement Clarke Moore (1779–1863)
