Famous quotes containing the words bliss and/or blood:

My whole working philosophy is that the only stable happiness for mankind is that it shall live married in blessed union to woman-kind—intimacy, physical and psychical between a man and his wife. I wish to add that my state of bliss is by no means perfect.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

Those times I mussed his curly black hair
    and touched his ten tar-fingers
and swallowed down his whiskey breath.
Red. Red. Father, you are blood red.
    Father,
we are two birds on fire.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)
