Black Widow (Claire Voyant) - Modern Incarnation

Modern Incarnation

In The Twelve, Claire Voyant is retconned as becoming the Black Widow in 1928 when she vows revenge, at her sister's grave, against the killer.

Revived in the present day, along with 11 other heroes, after being in suspended animation since World War II, she recommences serving as an "instrument of vengeance" for an unknown agency (not identified in this storyline as Satan) and going on missions for that party.

In a minor costume redesign, the major color of her costume is changed from green to purple, and the flame trim on the top of her boots is done away with.

Famous quotes containing the words modern and/or incarnation:

And of the other things death is a new office building filled with modern furniture,
A wise thing, but which has no purpose for us.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)

They have their belief, these poor Tibet people, that Providence sends down always an Incarnation of Himself into every generation. At bottom some belief in a kind of pope! At bottom still better, a belief that there is a Greatest Man; that he is discoverable; that, once discovered, we ought to treat him with an obedience which knows no bounds. This is the truth of Grand Lamaism; the “discoverability” is the only error here.
    Thomas Carlyle (1795–1881)
