Black Rose (band)
Black Rose was a Danish hard rock / heavy metal band with King Diamond on vocals. The band was started in 1979, largely inspired by bands such as Judas Priest, Deep Purple and Golden Earring. King Diamond already had a very theatrical stage act, for which he later got fame in Mercyful Fate. The band broke up in 1981 as King Diamond joined punk metal band Brats in November 1980.

Famous quotes containing the words black and/or rose:
“Night City was like a deranged experiment in Social Darwinism, designed by a bored researcher who kept one thumb permanently on the fast-forward button. Stop hustling and you sank without a trace, but move a little too swiftly and you’d break the fragile surface tension of the black market; either way, you were gone ... though heart or lungs or kidneys might survive in the service of some stranger with New Yen for the clinic tanks.”
—William Gibson (b. 1948)
“—But he, grim grinning King,
Who caitiffs scorns, and doth the blest surprise,
Late having deck’d with beauty’s rose his tomb,
Disdains to crop a weed, and will not come.”
—William Drummond, of Hawthornden (1585–1649)
