Security shuts door on alderman

May 23, 2004 After being interviewed by FBI agents this week, Ald. Arenda Troutman (20th) tried to slip past a swarm of reporters, photographers and TV news cameras that were waiting for her in the lobby of the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse. But security measures at the building prevented the alderman and her attorney, Sam Adam Sr., from escaping the media glare. Agents wanted to know about Troutman's relationship with fugitive Black Disciples gang member Donnell "Scandalous" Jehan, who reportedly was spotted driving one of her cars and was seen in her company.

An alleged member of the Black Disciples street gang pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court to narcotics conspiracy and agreed to cooperate against 11 other defendants. Robert Allen Jr., 25, formerly of Calumet City, admitted he was responsible for selling 220 pounds of crack cocaine to drug dealers in the area around 64th Street and Normal Boulevard between September 1996 and August 1998. Allen, the lead defendant in a federal case brought last August, has agreed to testify against other gang members at their trial, scheduled for Sept.

On May 12, 1995, over 678 male/females became members of BD. In the two years preceding this influx of new members and associates, an important member of BD, known as "ZO" (Alonzo Brooks) was sent to prison and solidified his stature within the organization there as well as on the streets. His reputation precedes him and he is so highly respected that many members in the BD gang wonder if he will ever be released (he was sentenced to 45 years in 1993 for murder and attempted murder projected release date 06/13). His loyalty and highly developed skills are often referred to and emphasized because of the time he spent in prison and for the crimes he committed under the Black Disciple banner. He is said to be a master instructor in Lee Kwan Musul, a Korean martial artist, and that he developed those skills to protect the Black disciple street gang at all cost. Following his incarceration, he is expected to bring the Black Disciples back to their so called glory days of money, murder and mayhem.

On September 2012, rapper Chief Keef's Tweets include a plethora of hashtag notation “#300” — a known reference, police say, to the Black Disciples street gang. He is under investigation for the murder of a fellow rapper in Chicago. However, no connections have been made since.
