Black Cat (manga)

Black Cat (ブラックキャット, Burakku Kyatto?) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kentaro Yabuki. It was originally serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2000 to 2004, and later collected in twenty tankōbon volumes. The series was adapted into a twenty-four episode anime series by Gonzo studio, which aired on the satellite television network Animax and the terrestrial Tokyo Broadcasting System channel from 2005 to 2006. The story centers on a man named Train Heartnet who withdrew from an elite group of assassins called the Chrono Numbers to become a bounty hunter, or Sweeper.

Viz Media licensed the manga series for an English-language publication in North America and as of May 2009, have released all 20 volumes of the series. Funimation Entertainment licensed the anime series for an English dub and North American broadcast on their own Funimation Channel. It was released on six DVD compilations, and later as a complete series boxed set.
