Birthday (The Beatles Song)

Birthday (The Beatles Song)

"Birthday" is a song written by Lennon–McCartney and performed by The Beatles on their double album The Beatles (commonly known as The White Album). It is the opening track on the third side of the LP (or the second disc in CD versions of the record). The song is an example of the Beatles' return to more traditional rock and roll form, although their music had increased in complexity and it had developed more of its own characteristic style by this point. McCartney and Ringo Starr performed it for Starr's 70th birthday on 7 July 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words birthday and/or beatles:

Since mothers are more likely to take children to their activities—the playground, ballet or karate class, birthday parties—they get a chance to see other children in action.... Fathers usually don’t spend as much time with other people’s kids; because of this, they have a narrower view of what constitutes “normal” behavior, and therefore what should or shouldn’t require parental discipline.
    Ron Taffel (20th century)

It’s like the Beatles coming together again—let’s hope they don’t go on a world tour.
Matt Frei, British journalist. Quoted in Listener (London, June 21, 1990)
