Birmingham, Ladywood is a borough constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post system of election. In the recession of 2008–09, it was the first place in Britain where the claimant count rate of unemployment surpassed 10%, breaching that level in January 2009.
