Biltmore Square Mall is a mall located just off I-26 on Brevard Road (North Carolina Highway 191) in Asheville, North Carolina. It has two anchors: Belk and Dillard's Clearance Center. In Summer 2008, Dillard's converted to a clearance center.
In March 1998, the mall management (along with other plaintiffs) did attempt to resist annexation of the property on which they reside into the city of Asheville. The attempt was unsuccessful.
In November 2006, Symphony Property Group and two local investment groups (collectively calling themselves Biltmore Eight, LLC) purchased the shopping center with the assistance of a third party loan. Thereafter the managing firm disclosed that the owner decided to expand the property in the first quarter of 2007 by an additional 83,000 sq ft (7,700 m2).
Cinebarre, a new concept in movie theaters and restaurants, was unveiled in the Biltmore Square Mall. Food, beer, and wine are served before and during the screening of films in the theater.
Famous quotes containing the words square and/or mall:
“After the planet becomes theirs, many millions of years will have to pass before a beetle particularly loved by God, at the end of its calculations will find written on a sheet of paper in letters of fire that energy is equal to the mass multiplied by the square of the velocity of light. The new kings of the world will live tranquilly for a long time, confining themselves to devouring each other and being parasites among each other on a cottage industry scale.”
—Primo Levi (19191987)
“Finishing schools in the fifties were a good place to store girls for a few years before marrying them off, a satisfactory rest stop between college weekends spent husband hunting. It was a haven for those of us adept at styling each others hair, playing canasta, and chain smoking Pall Mall extra-long cigarettes.”
—Barbara Howar (b. 1934)
