Famous Calls and Phrases

King's trademark phrase was "Holy Toledo", which he used when a stupendous event occurred for the team he was announcing for. Other well known calls are "Not in your wildest alcoholic nightmare would you ever imagine such events unfolding!" which he said during an Oakland Athletics game against the Texas Rangers and "Crazy...Just Plain Crazy" which he voiced when the Scott Hatteberg hit his walk off homerun against the Kansas City Royals to push the Athletics historical win streak to twenty games.

Famous quotes containing the words famous, calls and/or phrases:

Hunger makes you restless. You dream about food—not just any food, but perfect food, the best food, magical meals, famous and awe-inspiring, the one piece of meat, the exact taste of buttery corn, tomatoes so ripe they split and sweeten the air, beans so crisp they snap between the teeth, gravy like mother’s milk singing to your bloodstream.
    Dorothy Allison (b. 1953)

Not to find one’s way in a city may well be uninteresting and banal. It requires ignorance—nothing more. But to lose oneself in a city—as one loses oneself in a forest—that calls for a quite different schooling. Then, signboard and street names, passers-by, roofs, kiosks, or bars must speak to the wanderer like a cracking twig under his feet in the forest.
    Walter Benjamin (1892–1940)

It is a necessary condition of one’s ascribing states of consciousness, experiences, to oneself, in the way one does, that one should also ascribe them, or be prepared to ascribe them, to others who are not oneself.... The ascribing phrases are used in just the same sense when the subject is another as when the subject is oneself.
Sir Peter Frederick Strawson (b. 1919)
