Big Lottery Fund - Income

Income

The income of all the Lottery distributors comes from the sale of National Lottery tickets. Of every £1 spent on a Lottery ticket 28 pence goes to the "good causes". The current operator of the National Lottery is Camelot.

BIG is the largest of the Lottery distributors, with an income of about £600 million a year. From April 2012 BIG will be responsible for distributing 40 per cent of funds raised for "good causes" (just over 10 pence of every £1 spent on a Lottery ticket).

Famous quotes containing the word income:

    I know everybody’s income and what everybody earns,
    And I carefully compare it with the income-tax returns;
    Sir William Schwenck Gilbert (1836–1911)

    I had always been so much taken with the way all English people I knew always were going to see their lawyer. Even if they have no income and do not earn anything they always have a lawyer.
    Gertrude Stein (1874–1946)

    Italy is such a delightful place to live in if you happen to be a man. There one may enjoy that exquisite luxury of Socialism—that true Socialism which is based not on equality of income or character, but on the equality of manners. In the democracy of the caffè or the street the great question of our life has been solved, and the brotherhood of man is a reality. But it is accomplished at the expense of the sisterhood of women.
