Famous quotes containing the words benjamin f, benjamin and/or sands:

Be studious in your profession, and you will be learned. Be industrious and frugal, and you will be rich. Be sober and temperate, and you will be healthy. Be in general virtuous, and you will be happy. At least you will, by such conduct, stand the best chance for such consequences.
    Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790)

Quotations in my work are like wayside robbers who leap out armed and relieve the stroller of his conviction.
    —Walter Benjamin (1892–1940)

I heard the hissing rustle of the liquid and sands as directed to
    me whispering to congratulate me,
For the one I love most lay sleeping by me under the same cover in the cool night,
In the stillness in the autumn moonbeams his face was inclined
    toward me,
And his arm lay lightly around my breast—and that night I
    was happy.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)
