Beer Die - History

History

The origins of Beer Die, often being the subject of debate have been shrouded in uncertainty. However, amidst all the speculation, Maine's Colby College stands out as the possible birth place of Beer Die. The alleged origins of the Canadian variant of the game stem from Chown 407, a local Kingston bar which has held an annual tournament for the past 17 years. The game was brought over the Atlantic to Newcastle University Dental School in 2004, by "Canadian Dave". It has since been a staple of Newcastle Dentsoc drinking games, with the conventional table being replaced by a door.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

In history the great moment is, when the savage is just ceasing to be a savage, with all his hairy Pelasgic strength directed on his opening sense of beauty;—and you have Pericles and Phidias,—and not yet passed over into the Corinthian civility. Everything good in nature and in the world is in that moment of transition, when the swarthy juices still flow plentifully from nature, but their astrigency or acridity is got out by ethics and humanity.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The foregoing generations beheld God and nature face to face; we, through their eyes. Why should not we also enjoy an original relation to the universe? Why should not we have a poetry and philosophy of insight and not of tradition, and a religion by revelation to us, and not the history of theirs?
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

When the history of guilt is written, parents who refuse their children money will be right up there in the Top Ten.
    Erma Brombeck (20th century)
