Battle of Novara

There are three military events that are called Battle of Novara, fought next to Novara, Northern Italy:

  • Battle of Novara (1500), fought between France and Milan
  • Battle of Novara (1513), fought between the Holy League and France, within the War of the League of Cambrai
  • Battle of Novara (1849), fought between Austrian Empire and Kingdom of Sardinia, within the Italian unification wars

Famous quotes containing the words battle of and/or battle:

Nelson’s famous signal before the Battle of Trafalgar was not: “England expects that every man will be a hero.” It said: “England expects that every man will do his duty.” In 1805 that was enough. It should still be.
    Johan Huizinga (1872–1945)

Hell grant soon we hear again the swords clash!
And the shrill neighs of destriers in battle rejoicing,
Spiked breast to spiked breast opposing!
    Ezra Pound (1885–1972)
