Famous quotes containing the words hen, welfare and/or trust:

Though the hen should sit all day, she could lay only one egg, and, besides, would not have picked up materials for another.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I have an intense personal interest in making the use of American capital in the development of China an instrument for the promotion of the welfare of China, and an increase in her material prosperity without entanglements or creating embarrassment affecting the growth of her independent political power, and the preservation of her territorial integrity.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

I have known a vast quantity of nonsense talked about bad men not looking you in the face. Don’t trust that conventional idea. Dishonesty will stare honesty out of countenance any day in the week, if there is anything to be got by it.
    Charles Dickens (1812–1870)
