Basketball in The Greek Media

On a daily basis, 16 newspapers in the country publish what is happening in the sport. Although the media's main focus is always on the men's club Greek Championship, they will also report on the lower level divisions like the men's A2 League, as well as the NBA and the other major European national domestic championships like Liga ACB and international competitions like the Euroleague.

Greek television has the ability to broadcast all of the men's Greek Championship games. The men's club Greek Championship has the TV rights to distribute itself on the Greek public broadcaster ERT, the private channel ANT1, and the pay TV station Novasport. Euroleague games are also broadcast on Novasport and the private channel Skai TV. Live broadcasts of the men's national championship and European Cup games are also offered by the country's large number of sports radio stations.

Famous quotes containing the words basketball, greek and/or media:

Perhaps basketball and poetry have just a few things in common, but the most important is the possibility of transcendence. The opposite is labor. In writing, every writer knows when he or she is laboring to achieve an effect. You want to get from here to there, but find yourself willing it, forcing it. The equivalent in basketball is aiming your shot, a kind of strained and usually ineffective purposefulness. What you want is to be in some kind of flow, each next moment a discovery.
    Stephen Dunn (b. 1939)

Certainly for us of the modern world, with its conflicting claims, its entangled interests, distracted by so many sorrows, so many preoccupations, so bewildering an experience, the problem of unity with ourselves in blitheness and repose, is far harder than it was for the Greek within the simple terms of antique life. Yet, not less than ever, the intellect demands completeness, centrality.
    Walter Pater (1839–1894)

Today the discredit of words is very great. Most of the time the media transmit lies. In the face of an intolerable world, words appear to change very little. State power has become congenitally deaf, which is why—but the editorialists forget it—terrorists are reduced to bombs and hijacking.
    John Berger (b. 1926)
