Barsaat Ki Raat - Music

Music

The songs are beautiful and the qawwali sequences sublime. The song and dance does not occur randomly as is often the case in Indian movies; instead it is an integral part of the story itself which involves a poet and singer as well as poetry competitions that were once common.

Famous quotes containing the word music:

And this shall be for music when no one else is near,
The fine song for singing, the rare song to hear!
That only I remember, that only you admire,
Of the broad road that stretches and the roadside fire.
    Robert Louis Stevenson (1850–1894)

The basic difference between classical music and jazz is that in the former the music is always greater than its performance—Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, for instance, is always greater than its performance—whereas the way jazz is performed is always more important than what is being performed.
    André Previn (b. 1929)

The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus.
Let no such man be trusted.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
