“A self is, by its very essence, a being with a past. —Josiah Royce (1855–1916)
“O Gold! I still prefer thee unto paper,
Which makes bank credit like a bark of vapour.”
—George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)

—Alexis de Tocqueville (1805–1859)
“It’s no accident that of all the monuments left of the Greco- Roman culture the biggest is the ballpark, the Colosseum, the Yankee Stadium of ancient times.”
—Walter Wellesley (Red)
