Ball Joint - Front Wheel Drive

Front Wheel Drive

Unlike a kingpin, which requires an assembly in the center of the wheel in order to pivot, joints connect to the upper and lower end of the spindle (steering knuckle), to the control arms. These leaves the center section open to allow the use of front wheel drive. Older kingpin designs can only be used in a rear wheel drive configuration.

Famous quotes containing the words front, wheel and/or drive:

my face I don’t mind it,
    Because I’m behind it—
‘Tis the folks in the front that I jar.

Of the wheel as it rolls unrelentingly over
A cow plodding through car-traffic on a street in Iasi,
And over the haunts of Robert Pinsky’s mother and father
And wife and children and his sweet self
    Robert Pinsky (b. 1940)

Signal smokes, war drums, feathered bonnets against the western sky. New messiahs, young leaders are ready to hurl the finest light cavalry in the world against Fort Stark. In the Kiowa village, the beat of drums echoes in the pulsebeat of the young braves. Fighters under a common banner, old quarrels forgotten, Comanche rides with Arapaho, Apache with Cheyenne. All chant of war. War to drive the white man forever from the red man’s hunting ground.
    Frank S. Nugent (1908–1965)
