Popularity in South Asia and Remakes

Baby's Day Out was tremendously popular in the South Asia, including India and Pakistan, playing at the largest theater in Calcutta for over a year. It was even remade twice, once in Telugu in 1995 under the title Sisindri with Akhil (son of Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna) playing the lead role, and again into Malayalam in 1999 under the title James Bond. It was dubbed in Tamil with the title Chutti Kuzhanthai meaning naughty baby.

Famous quotes containing the words popularity, south, asia and/or remakes:

The popularity of that baby-faced boy, who possessed not even the elements of a good actor, was a hallucination in the public mind, and a disgrace to our theatrical history.
    Thomas Campbell (1777–1844)

I don’t have any doubts that there will be a place for progressive white people in this country in the future. I think the paranoia common among white people is very unfounded. I have always organized my life so that I could focus on political work. That’s all I want to do, and that’s all that makes me happy.
Hettie V., South African white anti-apartheid activist and feminist. As quoted in Lives of Courage, ch. 21, by Diana E. H. Russell (1989)

I believe that the fundamental proposition is that we must recognize that the hostilities in Europe, in Africa, and in Asia are all parts of a single world conflict. We must, consequently, recognize that our interests are menaced both in Europe and in the Far East.
    Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945)

With spring the father-sky remakes the world:
The male shower has flowed into the bride,
Earth’s body; then shifted through sky and sea and land
To touch the quickening child in her deep side.
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)
