It is the third oldest family-owned brewery in America (after D. G. Yuengling & Son) and became the oldest and largest brewery in Minnesota when the company bought the Grain Belt rights in 2002. In September 2010, it celebrated its 150th Anniversary with a two-day festival.

Famous quotes containing the words august and/or company:

What an occupation! To sit and flay your fellow men and then offer their skins for sale and expect them to buy them.
    —J. August Strindberg (1849–1912)

Endeavor, as much as you can, to keep company with people above you.... Do not mistake, when I say company above you, and think that I mean with regard to their birth; that is the least consideration; but I mean with regard to their merit, and the light in which the world considers them.
Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)
