Atlas (automobile) - Paris (France) Car

Paris (France) Car

Produced by the Société Industrielle de Livry, this Atlas was launched at the 1949 Paris Auto Show. The show car was a minicar that seated two and had a 125 cc AMC engine. Production cars featured a 175 cc 8.5 hp unit and a top speed of 43 mph. The car was also referred to as the Coccinelle (Ladybird). The Sofravel French minicar of the same era was also referred to as the Atlas, which must have been confusing to consumers. The Livry parent company also produced the Kover and Le Piaf minicars.

Famous quotes containing the words paris and/or car:

[The] elderly and timid single gentleman in Paris ... never drove down the Champs Elysees without expecting an accident, and commonly witnessing one; or found himself in the neighborhood of an official without calculating the chances of a bomb. So long as the rates of progress held good, these bombs would double in force and number every ten years.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

Fifty years from now, it will not matter what kind of car you drove, what kind of house you lived in, how much you had in your bank account, or what your clothes looked like, But the world may be a little better because you were important in the life of a child.
—Anonymous. Quoted in The Winning Family, by Louise Hart, ch. 1 (1987)
