Atlantic Accord

The Atlantic Accord is an agreement signed in 1985 between the Government of Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to manage offshore oil and gas resources adjacent to Newfoundland and Labrador.

The name was also used to describe a 2005 cash transfer agreement between the Government of Canada and the governments of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Famous quotes containing the words atlantic and/or accord:

Tell [the next Miss America] she is taking on a great responsibility. A responsibility to herself, to her people, to the Miss American Pageant, the people of Atlantic City, her state and her nation. Tell her the country and the world will judge America by her.
    Colleen Kay Hutchins (b. c. 1932)

Had Adam tenderly reproved his wife, and endeavored to lead her to repentance instead of sharing in her guilt, I should be much more ready to accord to man that superiority which he claims; but as the facts stand disclosed by the sacred historian, it appears to me that to say the least, there was as much weakness exhibited by Adam as by Eve. They both fell from innocence, and consequently from happiness, but not from equality.
    Sarah M. Grimke (1792–1873)
