Atari Writer - Trivia

Trivia

  • According to Gary Furr, Atari sold over 800,000 cartridges, not including Atariwriter Plus. He himself sold over 10,000 printer driver diskettes.
  • Furr wrote the original specifications for AtariWriter using an Atari 800 and the Atari Word Processor program.
  • Page 19 of the AtariWriter manual contains an intentionally erroneous section of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. This was used for tutorial purposes.
    • On pages 21 and 22, the reader is taught how to search and replace text, using one of the errors on the previous page (the protagonist's name is corrected from "Edith" to "Alice").

Famous quotes containing the word trivia:

The most refined skills of color printing, the intricate techniques of wide-angle photography, provide us pictures of trivia bigger and more real than life. We forget that we see trivia and notice only that the reproduction is so good. Man fulfils his dream and by photographic magic produces a precise image of the Grand Canyon. The result is not that he adores nature or beauty the more. Instead he adores his camera—and himself.
    Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)

Pop artists deal with the lowly trivia of possessions and equipment that the present generation is lugging along with it on its safari into the future.
