The Sun

As the nearest star, the Sun is the brightest radiation source in most frequencies, down to the radio spectrum at 300 MHz (1 m wavelength). When the sun is quiet, the galactic background noise dominates at longer wavelengths. During geomagnetic storms, the sun will dominate even at these low frequencies.

Famous quotes containing the word sun:

Once at thy Feast, I saw thee Pearle-like stand
‘Tween Heaven and Earth, where Heavens Bright glory all
In streams fell on thee, as a floodgate and
Like Sun Beams through thee on the World to Fall.
Oh! Sugar sweet then! My Deare sweet Lord, I see
Saints Heaven-lost Happiness restor’d by thee.
    Edward Taylor (1645–1729)

Thou Fair-haired Angel of the Evening,
Now, whilst the sun rests on the mountains, light
Thy bright torch of love; thy radiant crown
Put on, and smile upon our evening bed!
    William Blake (1757–1827)
