Release Notes
In the English DVD Box Set release, rather than using the British dub, the American dub was included. This new dub was never released theatrically and is considered inferior by fans of the original due to it changing parts of the plot as well as character names ("Getafix" is changed to "Vitamix", "Vitalstatistix" to "Bombastix", "Cacofonix" to "Franksinatrix" and "Unhygienix" to "Fishstix"), and general dumbing down for an audience assumed to be unfamiliar with the characters.
The first English dub featured the voices of Bill Oddie, Bernard Bresslaw, Peter Hawkins, Brian Blessed, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Ron Moody amongst others. In 2010, the film was released on Blu-ray.

Famous quotes containing the words release and/or notes:
“If I were to be taken hostage, I would not plead for release nor would I want my government to be blackmailed. I think certain government officials, industrialists and celebrated persons should make it clear they are prepared to be sacrificed if taken hostage. If that were done, what gain would there be for terrorists in taking hostages?”
—Margaret Mead (19011978)
“There are only two or three human stories, and they go on repeating themselves as fiercely as if they had never happened before; like the larks in this country, that have been singing the same five notes over for thousands of years.”
—Willa Cather (18731947)
