Arthur Paul Pedrick - Motivations

Motivations

Many see Pedrick as a lunatic. Within the patent profession, however, he is labelled a hero for poking holes in the patent system and exposing its flaws. Only by exposing loop-holes in legislation can it be seen how such legislation may be improved. As an example of his disdain for the patent system, some of his patents say that his invention is really more a "concept", presumably knowing full well that a mere concept should not be patentable if there is insufficient disclosure to put it into practice.

Pedrick knew what he was doing, and was not just another lunatic inventor. He was able to play the system due to his experience as a patent examiner, and many of his applications followed through to become granted patents.

Famous quotes containing the word motivations:

The wider the range of possibilities we offer children, the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences. We must widen the range of topics and goals, the types of situations we offer and their degree of structure, the kinds and combinations of resources and materials, and the possible interactions with things, peers, and adults.
    Loris Malaguzzi (1920–1994)
