Army Burn Hall College - Discipline

Discipline

The college is under the supervision of the Pakistan Army. The Boys section has a serving army Captain as its Adjutant who is responsible for maintaining discipline in the college. Physical punishment is handed out only by the Adjutant and never by the teachers. The motto of the College is "Quo Non Ascendam" i.e. "To What Heights Can I Not Rise". Every year a magazine is launched by the college, the magazine for the girl's section is called the Hallian, that of the boys is called Hallmark.

Famous quotes containing the word discipline:

So far as discipline is concerned, freedom means not its absence but the use of higher and more rational forms as contrasted with those that are lower or less rational.
    Charles Horton Cooley (1864–1929)

A man’s social and spiritual discipline must answer to his corporeal. He must lean on a friend who has a hard breast, as he would lie on a hard bed. He must drink cold water for his only beverage. So he must not hear sweetened and colored words, but pure and refreshing truths. He must daily bathe in truth cold as spring water, not warmed by the sympathy of friends.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The first rule of education for me was discipline. Discipline is the keynote to learning. Discipline has been the great factor in my life. I discipline myself to do everything—getting up in the morning, walking, dancing, exercise. If you won’t have discipline, you won’t have a nation. We can’t have permissiveness. When someone comes in and says, “Oh, your room is so quiet,” I know I’ve been successful.
Rose Hoffman, U.S. public school third-grade teacher. As quoted in Working, book 8, by Studs Terkel (1973)
