The Armadale Line is a suburban railway line in Perth, Australia. It runs through Perth's south-eastern suburbs and connects Perth and Armadale, and continues into the South Western Railway to Bunbury.

The line crosses the Swan River at East Perth via the Goongoongup Bridge, and formerly had crossed it via the Bunbury Bridge.

The Thornlie Line is a spur line connecting with the Armadale Line before Kenwick. It was built between 2004 to 2005 and opened on 7 August 2005. Trains to Thornlie run on the Armadale Line between Perth and Beckenham stations.

Famous quotes containing the words railway and/or line:

Her personality had an architectonic quality; I think of her when I see some of the great London railway termini, especially St. Pancras, with its soot and turrets, and she overshadowed her own daughters, whom she did not understand—my mother, who liked things to be nice; my dotty aunt. But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arm’s length.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)

There’s something like a line of gold thread running through a man’s words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself. It’s another thing, though, to hold up that cloth for inspection.
    John Gregory Brown (20th century)
