Publication History
Ariel first appeared in Fallen Angels (1st series) #1 (April 1987), and was created by Mary Jo Duffy (writer), and Kerry Gammill (artist).
The character subsequently appears in Fallen Angels #2-8 (May–November 1987) and again much later in X-Men: Legacy #226 and 235. She appeared to have been killed in X-Men Legacy #235, but writer Mike Carey later stated that he deliberately wrote that scene the way he did so that it would be possible that she could have survived. She returned to publication in X-Men: Legacy #259.
Ariel received an entry in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Update '89 #1.

Famous quotes containing the words publication and/or history:
“Of all human events, perhaps, the publication of a first volume of verses is the most insignificant; but though a matter of no moment to the world, it is still of some concern to the author.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
“When the landscape buckles and jerks around, when a dust column of debris rises from the collapse of a block of buildings on bodies that could have been your own, when the staves of history fall awry and the barrel of time bursts apart, some turn to prayer, some to poetry: words in the memory, a stained book carried close to the body, the notebook scribbled by handa center of gravity.”
—Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)
