Archbishop Stepinac High School - Major Bowes Auditorium

Major Bowes Auditorium

The Major Bowes Theatre is named after the host of the Major Bowes Amateur Hour, Edward Bowes. He was America's best known radio talent in the 1930s and 1940s. Each week, Bowes would chat with the contestants and listen to their performances. Through this radio program, he was able to find undiscovered talent and send them on vaudeville tours. Since 1949, the Major Bowes Auditorium has been one of the focal points of activity in the school. The theatre program sponsors many programs such as the Annual Alumni Theatre, Annual Talent Show, the Fall Dramas, and the Spring Musicals.

Famous quotes containing the word major:

A major misunderstanding of child rearing has been the idea that meeting a child’s needs is an end in itself, for the purpose of the child’s mental health. Mothers have not understood that this is but one step in social development, the goal of which is to help a child begin to consider others. As a result, they often have not considered their children but have instead allowed their children’s reality to take precedence, out of a fear of damaging them emotionally.
    Elaine Heffner (20th century)
