Aphanomyces Euteiches F.sp. Pisi - Host-parasite Interaction

Host-parasite Interaction

A study indicates that A. euteiches abundance is less severe when the infected plant also has significant mycorrhizal development. Mycorrhizal development can be decreased by management practices, excessive use of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer, and repeated tillage.

An alfalfa, there is evidence that another interaction can occur between A. euteiches and P. medicaginis, another important alfalfa pathogen which causes Phytophthera root rot. In this case, colonization by A. euteiches may make it more difficult for P. medicaginis to take hold.

Famous quotes containing the word interaction:

Here is this vast, savage, howling mother of ours, Nature, lying all around, with such beauty, and such affection for her children, as the leopard; and yet we are so early weaned from her breast to society, to that culture which is exclusively an interaction of man on man,—a sort of breeding in and in, which produces at most a merely English nobility, a civilization destined to have a speedy limit.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
