Aotearoa Hip Hop Summit - Event

Event

The God father of NZ Hiphop Phil Fuemana organized the first summit in 1996 and 1997. Then in 2000 Alistair Tate describes the event as "three days and nights of uninterrupted, pure hip hop action." In the first summit, only New Zealand artists performed. To encourage collaboration, international artists were included in the second summit. One component of the event is dancing competitions between b-boys and b-girls. Many participants boast of the heavy involvement of females, which they believe distinguishes the Aotearoan hip hop community from their counterparts in countries such as the United States. The event is now sponsored by Boost Mobile and known as the Boost Mobile Aotearoa Hip Hop Summit.

Famous quotes containing the word event:

There is nothing that I shudder at more than the idea of a separation of the Union. Should such an event ever happen, which I fervently pray God to avert, from that date I view our liberty gone.
    Andrew Jackson (1767–1845)

We can glut ourselves with how-to-raise children information . . . strive to become more mature and aware but none of this will spare us from the . . . inevitability that some of the time we are going to fail our children. Because there is a big gap between knowing and doing. Because mature, aware people are imperfect too. Or because some current event in our life may so absorb or depress us that when our children need us we cannot come through.
    Judith Viorst (20th century)

An event has happened, upon which it is difficult to speak, and impossible to be silent.
    Edmund Burke (1729–1797)
