Indonesia and Anti-Australian Sentiment

Indonesia has been alleged to have a rise in "anti-Australian sentiment" over any suggestion of Australia interfering with its internal affairs. A 2003 study on Indonesian aspirants for a diplomatic position reported that 95% of them had Anti-Australian sentiment. The Post-Suharto era period also saw Anti-Australian sentiment in Indonesia over East Timor. In Indonesia this relates to generalized Anti-Western sentiment.

Famous quotes containing the word sentiment:

He that outlives a wife whom he has long loved, sees himself disjoined from the only mind that has the same hopes, and fears, and interest; from the only companion with whom he has shared much good and evil; and with whom he could set his mind at liberty, to retrace the past or anticipate the future. The continuity of being is lacerated; the settled course of sentiment and action is stopped; and life stands suspended and motionless.
    Samuel Johnson (1709–1784)
