Annemarie Renger

Annemarie Renger (née Wildung), (born 7 October 1919 in Leipzig; died 3 March 2008 in Remagen-Oberwinter), was a German politician for the “Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands” (Social Democratic Party of Germany - SPD).

In 1972 she was the first woman to become President of the Bundestag. She held this position until 1976 when she became Vice President of the Bundestag (German parliament).

She was nominated as the presidential candidate of the SPD in 1979, the first woman to be nominated for President by a major party.
