Anne Keothavong

Anne Viensouk Keothavong (born 16 September 1983) is a Laotian-British tennis player. She is the British number 3 ranked player, behind Heather Watson and Laura Robson, and is ranked 141st in the world (as of 14 January 2013). So far in her career she has won a total of 19 International Tennis Federation singles titles, 8 ITF doubles titles and reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 48 (achieved 23 February 2009). She has also reached the semifinals of four International tournaments on the main tour and the semifinals of one Premier tournament.

In terms of Grand Slam success, Keothavong's best result so far came at the 2008 US Open, where she reached the third round. She beat Alexa Glatch in the first round and followed this up with a victory over the No. 25 seed, Francesca Schiavone, a woman ranked 60 places above her. She faced world No. 6, Elena Dementieva, in round three and was defeated. Keothavong has also managed to reach the second round of Wimbledon on four occasions: in 2004, 2008, 2011 and 2012. In 2004 she beat Nicole Pratt in the first round and lost to Maria Sharapova, the No. 13 seed, in straight sets in round two. The 2008 tournament saw her beat Vania King in round one but she went on to experience a second round loss to Venus Williams. In 2011 Wimbledon, she lost to eventual champion, Petra Kvitova, in straight sets, 2–6 1–6. In the 2012 Wimbledon Championships, Anne had a first round win over Spain's Laura Pous Tio. The score was 6–3 6–3. In the second round, she lost to Sara Errani by the score line of 1–6 1–6.
