Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong - Events and Conventions

Events and Conventions

Other than comics, the convention also sells comic-related / animation-related / game-related products. Huge amount of profits are made in selling these products as most of them are limited edition which attract teenagers to start queuing up overnight or even a day or two before.

The convention also has shows, cosplay and dance/gaming competitions. The annual Hong Kong Game Fair is held in conjunction with the comics festival. Companies such as Microsoft's Xbox have large kiosks and displays in the show, as well as the Samsung Game Girl competition, in which 11 girls compete for the Game Girl title.

Winners of each year, almost all of them, enter either the entertainment field or the model field, being the cover girl of the best selling magazines, becoming famous in an extremely short time. Experiences have proved that it will be extremely crowded during the exhibition, so some big companies has bought accidental insurance for those top models and arrange extra security manpower so as to assure the safety of the image girls involved.

For 2010, the convention will run from July 30 - August 3 at the HKCEC. The opening ceremony will be held on the 30th of July from 0900 to 1000. The convention will also take place in Guangzhou, China from October 2–6, during China's weeklong National Day of the People's Republic of China holiday.

Famous quotes containing the words events and/or conventions:

On the most profitable lie, the course of events presently lays a destructive tax; whilst frankness invites frankness, puts the parties on a convenient footing, and makes their business a friendship.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

I find nothing healthful or exalting in the smooth conventions of society. I do not like the close air of saloons. I begin to suspect myself to be a prisoner, though treated with all this courtesy and luxury. I pay a destructive tax in my conformity.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
