Amok Time - Series Significance

Series Significance

Gerald Fried's incidental music for the fight became a standard underscore for combat-scenes in season 2. It was notably spoofed during the Medieval Times sequence in the Jim Carrey movie The Cable Guy, in The Simpsons episode Deep Space Homer, and on Futurama as the national anthem of Dr. Zoidberg's home panet, Decapod 10.

Spock's famous Vulcan hand salute, repeated many times in later episodes and series, is given for the first time when Spock departs from T'Pau.

Famous quotes containing the words series and/or significance:

Life ... is not simply a series of exciting new ventures. The future is not always a whole new ball game. There tends to be unfinished business. One trails all sorts of things around with one, things that simply won’t be got rid of.
    Anita Brookner (b. 1928)

For a parent, it’s hard to recognize the significance of your work when you’re immersed in the mundane details. Few of us, as we run the bath water or spread the peanut butter on the bread, proclaim proudly, “I’m making my contribution to the future of the planet.” But with the exception of global hunger, few jobs in the world of paychecks and promotions compare in significance to the job of parent.
    Joyce Maynard (20th century)
