Neurosurgical Research
The Neurosurgery Research and Education Foundation (NREF) was created in 1981 as a response to the alarming decline in federal and private funding for medical research. Since the NREF awarded its first grant in 1983, a steady increase in support has led to the granting of 168 awards. The vast majority of the residents and young clinicians/researchers who have received NREF grants, continue to contribute significantly to neurosurgical research in their professional careers. More information on this program including a yearbook of grantees is available on the Web.
