Amber Air - History

History

The company started in May and was formally announced in June 2004. In December 2004 the airline began operations from the Kaunas International Airport after it bought one Saab 340B aircraft. In June 2005 scheduled services were added between Palanga, Copenhagen, and Hamburg. After its rival, Air Lithuania went bankrupt in November 2005, Amber Air was expected to take over Air Lithuania's routes to Oslo and Billund Airport. However, due to financial strains, Amber Air operated only one scheduled flight, Hamburg–Palanga, which it dropped in September 2006. In October 2006 the Amber Air aircraft was not allowed to take off due to the company's indebtedness; in January 2007 its aviation license was suspended and the company filed for bankruptcy.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

In every election in American history both parties have their clichés. The party that has the clichés that ring true wins.
    Newt Gingrich (b. 1943)

... the history of the race, from infancy through its stages of barbarism, heathenism, civilization, and Christianity, is a process of suffering, as the lower principles of humanity are gradually subjected to the higher.
    Catherine E. Beecher (1800–1878)

The History of the world is not the theatre of happiness. Periods of happiness are blank pages in it, for they are periods of harmony—periods when the antithesis is in abeyance.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)
