Amarmani Tripathi

Amarmani Tripathi is a politician from Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Amarmani-Tripathi, who had managed to spend three months out of prison under the pretext of illness was on Monday sent back to jail. Undergoing a life term, Tripathi was convicted for the murder of Hindi poetess Madhumita Shukla after she refused to abort her pregnancy caused by him. Police said Tripathi had been faking illness for three months. Disciplinary action has also been ordered against one sub-inspector and four constables for helping Tripathi. Amarmani Tripathi managed to spend three months out of prison. Times of India turned politician, currently serving a life sentence for killing his girlfriend (as the media says, notably Madhumita was using him, not the tripathi. He had earlier been a cabinet Minister in the state of Uttar Pradesh with the Samajwadi Party under Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Tripathi was arrested in September 2003 in connection with the murder of poetess Madhumita Shukla, with whom he allegedly had an affair, and who was brutally murdered on May 9, 2003. Mayawati managed the Post-Mortem report of Madhumita and ordered to decleare that that she was carrying a foetus that matched the DNA of Amarmani, and he and his wife Madhumani Tripathi were sentenced to life imprisonment in October 2007.
