All in The Family (song) - Music and Structure

Music and Structure

The song is a rhyme duel between Jonathan Davis and Fred Durst, mixing elements of hip-hop beats, distorted 7-string guitars, and Fieldy's signature bass sound. The song begins with Jonathan and Fred insulting each other on hygiene, sexual orientation and family roots amongst other things. At the ending, both say they will perform sexual acts on each other in ironic way, in fact giving the song a confusing twist. Musically, the stomping riff has drawn comparison to Tool's "Die Eier Von Satan", though it is in 4/4 time unlike the former's 9/8. There are lyrical references to each other's songs, including Korn's "Blind", "Shoots and Ladders", "No Place To Hide", and Limp Bizkit's "Counterfeit". Parts of the riff from "Blind" can also be heard during Jon's insults.

Famous quotes containing the words music and, music and/or structure:

    And in the next instant, immediately behind them, Victor saw his former wife.
    At once he lowered his gaze, automatically tapping his cigarette to dislodge the ash that had not yet had time to form. From somewhere low down his heart rose like a fist to deliver an uppercut, drew back, struck again, then went into a fast disorderly throb, contradicting the music and drowning it.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)

    Let music sound while he doth make his choice;
    Then if he lose he makes a swan-like end,
    Fading in music.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

    If rightly made, a boat would be a sort of amphibious animal, a creature of two elements, related by one half its structure to some swift and shapely fish, and by the other to some strong-winged and graceful bird.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
